Overnight lane and ramp restrictions to shift traffic onto new roadway on I-65/I-70 between Fletcher Avenue and Washington Street have been rescheduled to occur Monday, July 27. The traffic shift was originally scheduled for this weekend.
The following restrictions are expected on Monday, July 27, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.:
- Southbound I-65 closed between Washington Street and Fletcher Avenue
- Southbound I-65 traffic will be diverted to the collector-distributor road and will rejoin I-65/I-70 south of Fletcher Avenue
- Northbound I-65 reduced to one lane between Fletcher Avenue and Washington Street
- Ramp from northbound I-65 to Washington Street closed, after midnight
Following the traffic shift, northbound I-65 traffic will be separated from the work zone by concrete barrier wall. Drivers continuing on northbound I-65 should keep left, while drivers exiting onto Washington Street will need to keep right before Fletcher Avenue.
Drivers can also expect an overnight closure of the northbound I-65 exit ramp to Keystone Avenue on Wednesday, July 22, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for lighting improvements.
Raymond Street Ramp Closures Begin Friday
As a reminder, two Raymond Street ramps at northbound I-65 are expected to temporarily close this week. Both will be improved and reconstructed with new asphalt pavement.
- Ramp from northbound I-65 to eastbound and westbound Raymond Street
- Ramp from westbound Raymond Street to northbound I-65
The ramps are expected to close around 6 a.m. on or after Friday, July 24. They are expected to reopen by October, weather permitting.
Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur.
Construction Speed Limit
The construction zone speed limit remains active on I-65. A reduced speed of 45 mph is in place for the duration of I-65 Safety and Efficiency work. It is important for drivers to slow down and avoid distractions in work zones.
