Progress on I-65 Safety and Efficiency is continuing, and the project is on schedule to be substantially complete at the end of this year with minimal traffic impacts anticipated in 2027.
Traffic is on new roadway between Fletcher Avenue and Washington Street. I-65/I-70 pavement replacement work is expected to be complete late this fall.
Ramps have been a major focus this year, with 10 ramps throughout the project corridor being reconstructed with new pavement. Six of the 10 ramps are open to traffic.
Crews are now improving the Raymond Street ramps. They’re expected to open by early fall, weather permitting.
Bridge work is also nearly complete. Rehabilitation and widening of the I-65 bridge over Morris and Prospect streets is finished, and crews are completing final work on the widened bridges over Naomi Street and Pleasant Run Parkway.
I-65 will remain reduced to two lanes in each direction between I-465 and I-70 until all lanes are ready to open to traffic in late 2026.
The construction zone speed limit is 45 mph. The reduced speed will remain in place for the duration of the project. Please slow down and stay alert in work zones.
