On or after Saturday, May 17, the ramp from northbound I-65 to Keystone Avenue (Exit 107) is scheduled to close for reconstruction. The ramp is expected to reopen in late August, weather permitting.
In addition to the ramp closure, northbound I-65 will be reduced to two lanes from north of the I-465 interchange to just south of the I-65/I-70 overpass starting on or after Saturday, May 17.
Lane restrictions are expected to remain in place through late 2026 as crews construct additional travel lanes as part of the I-65 Safety and Efficiency project. Interstate 65 will expand to four travel lanes in each direction between I-465 and I-70 at the end of the project.

Traffic will be detoured to the southbound I-65 ramp, where drivers can turn around at Southport Road to access northbound I-65
Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur. Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time during overnight hours.
Additional Restrictions Planned
Southbound I-65 will be reduced to two lanes from north of the I-465 interchange to just south of the I-65/I-70 overpass starting on or after Thursday, May 22. At least two lanes will remain open in each direction on I-65 between I-465 and I-70 through the end of 2026.
Several ramps at the I-65/I-70 and I-465 interchanges will be limited to one travel lane to accommodate I-65 construction. Some ramp restrictions are already in place, with others expected to begin by the end of May. These lane closures will remain in place through the end of 2025.
Drivers should slow down, allow extra travel time, and be aware of changing traffic patterns. Follow posted signs and pavement markings to navigate the corridor safely.

Construction Speed Limit Now Active
The construction zone speed limit is now active on I-65. A reduced speed of 45 mph is in place for the duration of I-65 Safety and Efficiency project. It is important for drivers to slow down and avoid distractions in work zones.
