Crews will be setting bridge beams, shifting traffic to new pavement, and continuing demolition work this week as part of the I-65 Safety and Efficiency project in southeast Indianapolis.
Drivers can expect the following traffic impacts as work progresses:
Tuesday, Sept. 2 | 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for traffic shift near Lick Creek
- Overnight single lane closure on southbound I-65 between Rural Street and the I-465/I-65 interchange
- Once work is complete, traffic will shift to the right and travel on new pavement
Friday, Sept. 5 | 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for beam setting on I-65 northbound bridge over Morris Street and Prospect Street
- Daytime right lane closure on eastbound Morris Street between the southbound I-65 on-ramp and Leonard Street
Friday, Sept. 5 | 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for barrier wall demolition
- Overnight right lane closure on southbound I-65 between Rural Street and the I-465/I-65 interchange
Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur. Drivers should plan ahead and consider alternate routes to avoid delays.
Construction Speed Limit
The construction zone speed limit remains active on I-65. A reduced speed of 45 mph is in place for the duration of I-65 Safety and Efficiency work. It is important for drivers to slow down and avoid distractions in work zones.
