Indianapolis, IN (May 5, 2025) – Shoulder strengthening work on I-65 begins this week and will require overnight lane and ramp closures near the I-465 interchange and Keystone Avenue.
Overnight restrictions are planned as follows:
Monday, May 5 and Tuesday, May 6 | 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Northbound I-65 at the I-465 interchange, right lane closed
Tuesday, May 6 | 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Ramp from Keystone Avenue to southbound I-65 closed
Wednesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 8 | 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Ramp from southbound I-65 to Keystone Avenue (Exit 107) closed
- Ramp from Keystone Avenue to southbound I-65 closed
- Southbound I-65 approaching Keystone Avenue, right lane closed
Thursday, May 8 | 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Ramp from Keystone Avenue to northbound I-65 closed
Thursday, May 8 | 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Northbound I-65 from Keystone to Troy Avenue, right lane closed
All closures are weather dependent. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes, when possible.
Crews will mill and repave the existing outside shoulders with new asphalt to accommodate traffic during construction. Part of the outside shoulder will be used to maintain two travel lanes while providing space for crews to build new lanes using the inside shoulder this year. In 2026, work will shift to widening the outside lanes.
Construction Speed Limit Now Active
The construction zone speed limit is now active on I-65. A reduced speed of 45 mph is in place for the duration of I-65 Safety and Efficiency work. It is important for drivers to slow down and avoid distractions in work zones.
