Overnight lane restrictions are scheduled this week on I-65 in southeast Indianapolis. A portion of I-65 will be reduced to one lane for overhead bridge work, beam setting and guardrail repairs.
Crews will place the final beams on the new Hanna Avenue bridge overnight on Monday, Sept. 29. Drivers on southbound I-65 should expect intermittent stoppages of up to 20 minutes between 11:59 p.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday morning to allow crews to safely set beams over the interstate.
Drivers can expect the following restrictions:
Monday, Sept. 29
- Southbound I-65 reduced to one lane between Raymond Street and the I-65/I-465 interchange with 20-minute stoppages between 11:59 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 30
- Northbound I-65 reduced to one lane between State Avenue and Troy Avenue
Thursday, Oct. 2 and Friday, Oct. 3
- Southbound I-65 reduced to one lane between Rural Street and the I-65/I-465 interchange
Overnight closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur.
Drivers should plan ahead and consider alternate routes to avoid delays.
Construction Speed Limit
The construction zone speed limit remains active on I-65. A reduced speed of 45 mph is in place for the duration of I-65 Safety and Efficiency work. It is important for drivers to slow down and avoid distractions in work zones.
