Overnight concrete paving operations are expected to begin this week on I-65 near downtown Indianapolis as part of the I-65 Safety and Efficiency project. Crews are replacing pavement on I-65 between the I-65/I-70 north and south splits.
Drivers can expect the following restrictions from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.:
Tuesday, Sept. 8 and Wednesday, Sept. 9
- Southbound I-65 closed at Washington Street; southbound I-65 traffic will be diverted to the collector-distributor road and rejoin I-65/I-70 just south of Fletcher Avenue
This work is weather dependent. Schedules are subject to change if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur.
Pavement replacement work is expected to continue during overnight hours this fall. Visit I65SafetyandEfficiency.com and follow the project on Facebook and X for the latest information about upcoming closures and activities.
Construction Speed Limit
The construction zone speed limit remains active on I-65. A reduced speed of 45 mph is in place for the duration of I-65 Safety and Efficiency work. It is important for drivers to slow down and avoid distractions in work zones.
