Ramp and lane closures scheduled overnight this week on I-65

Overnight ramp and lane closures are scheduled this week on I-65 in southeast Indianapolis to perform a traffic shift, drainage repairs, and other work.

Traffic Shift

Drivers on northbound I-65 will notice a new traffic configuration between Bradbury Street and the I-65/I-70 interchange by Thursday morning, Dec. 18. Crews are shifting traffic onto the new inside lanes built this year, with the full shift in place by Thursday morning.

Some closures have been rescheduled due to weather. The updated schedule is below:

Monday, Dec. 15 | 9 p.m. to midnight

  • Southbound I-65 reduced to one lane between Raymond Street and Troy Avenue with stoppages up to 20-minutes possible

Wednesday, Dec. 17 | 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • Ramps to and from Raymond Street and northbound I-65 closed
  • Ramp from northbound I-65 to Morris Street and Prospect Street closed
  • Northbound I-65 reduced to one lane between Bradbury Street and the I-65/I-70 interchange

Drivers should plan ahead and consider alternate routes to avoid delays.

Closures are weather dependent. Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur.

Construction Speed Limit
The construction zone speed limit remains active on I-65. A reduced speed of 45 mph is in place for the duration of I-65 Safety and Efficiency work. It is important for drivers to slow down and avoid distractions in work zones.
