REMINDER: Northbound I-65 closure this weekend 

Utility work to impact I-65 southbound early Saturday

A weekend closure on northbound I-65 is scheduled to begin Friday night in southeast Indianapolis as crews continue drainage improvements beneath the interstate. 

Northbound I-65 is scheduled to close at 9 p.m. onFriday, July 11, and reopen by 6 a.m. on Monday, July 14. Weekend closures are scheduled throughout the month of July. 

Northbound I-65 Closures  

  • Friday, July 11 through Monday, July 14 
  • Friday, July 18 through Monday, July 21 

Friday, July 25 through Monday, July 28 

The closures extend from the I-65/I-465 interchange to the I-65/I-70 interchange and include the following northbound I-65 ramps:  

  • Eastbound I-465 to northbound I-65 
  • Westbound I-465 to northbound I-65 
  • Keystone Avenue entrance/exit ramps  
  • Raymond Street entrance/exit ramps 
  • Morris Street/Prospect Street exit ramp 

Traffic will be detoured using I-465 and I-70. Drivers should look for signage along the roadway for guidance. 

Southbound I-65 Lane and Ramp Restrictions 

Overhead utility work is scheduled on southbound I-65 over Naomi Street early Saturday, July 12. To accommodate the work, 20-minute stoppages are scheduled between 1 and 3 a.m. 

The following ramps will also close intermittently during that time, with 20-minute closures occurring throughout the two-hour window: 

  • Morris Street/Prospect Street to southbound I-65 
  • Eastbound I-70 to southbound I-65 

Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur. Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time, when possible. 

Construction Speed Limit  
The construction zone speed limit remains active on I-65. A reduced speed of 45 mph is in place for the duration of I-65 Safety and Efficiency work. It is important for drivers to slow down and avoid distractions in work zones.
