Traffic shift on southbound I-65 will reopen ramps at Raymond Street

Overnight ramp and lane closures scheduled this weekend

Southbound I-65 traffic is moving to new roadway between Morris Street and Keystone Avenue as progress continues on I-65 Safety and Efficiency in southeast Indianapolis. The southbound I-65 ramps at Raymond Street are also scheduled to reopen.

The ramps to and from Raymond Street and southbound I-65 were reconstructed during the temporary closure. They are expected to reopen Sunday morning.

It’s another step toward completing the project’s goal of adding a lane in each direction on I-65 between I-465 and I-70, with four lanes of traffic in each direction at project completion. The added lane will improve safety and traffic flow for drivers.

Concrete pours for pavement replacement are also planned this weekend between the I-65/70 north and south splits. Drivers can expect the following overnight closures this weekend to replace pavement, shift traffic and reopen ramps:

Overnight Thursday, Sept. 10 (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.)

  • Ramp from northbound I-65 to Washington Street closed
  • Northbound I-65 reduced to one lane between Fletcher Avenue and Washington Street

Overnight Friday, Sept. 11

  • Ramp from northbound I-65 to Washington Street closed (9 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday)
  • Northbound I-65 reduced to two lanes between Fletcher Avenue and Washington Street 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday)

Overnight Saturday, Sept. 12 (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.)

  • Ramp from eastbound I-70 to southbound I-65 closed
  • Ramp from Madison Avenue to eastbound I-70 closed
  • Ramp from northbound I-65 to Washington Street closed
  • Ramp from Morris Street to southbound I-65 closed
  • Southbound I-65 reduced to one lane between Morris Street and Keystone Avenue
  • Northbound I-65 reduced to two lanes between Fletcher Avenue and Washington Street

Delays are expected. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and seek alternate routes when possible.

Schedules are subject to change if inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur.
